The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency said it would review missing-person cases closed between January 2024 and July 2026. It plans to focus on cases closed without meeting the missing person face to face and to reinvestigate any found to have been poorly handled. Cases reported in earlier years but closed during the review period mean that the number of closures can exceed the number of reports filed during the same period.
The scale of the statistics and the appropriateness of individual case handling should be judged separately.
